Short week good for Football?

There were crucial injuries to star players -- including both starting quarterbacks. It also featured turnovers, missed and blocked field-goal attempts to go along with embarrassing fundamental errors and penalties. This game was often quite ugly. The sloppy play and influx of injuries begs questions about the logic behind playing games on such a short week, particularly this late in the season when few players are truly healthy. A portion of this game was somewhat unwatchable and at times matched the quality of play in the preseason. The first points were not scored until 17 seconds left in the first half, but with both seasons more or less on the line, the action did pick up. Todd Collins played a solid game in relief and the Redskins' pass protection was exceptional against a good pass-rushing Bears' defensive line. That was the difference in Washington's victory.
